My travel plans for 2016!

I like to live my life quite spontaneously, never really planning too far ahead or rejecting opportunities that suddenly arrive. One thing I will always plan ahead for though is travel!

2015 was relatively quiet for me; starting a new job, moving house, getting myself set up and taking the occasional domestic trip around Australia. This year I have a few international trips up my sleeve and am soooo ready to begin the research phase. 

In just over 2 weeks I will be heading off to Thailand for a whole month! I will be travelling with tour company Life Before Work for the first two and a bit weeks, which will see me tackling the infamous Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan, soaking up the sun on the endless beaches from Koh Tao to Railay, and visiting an ethical elephant sanctuary in Kanchanaburi (amongst many other amazing things!). After that I plan to head off on my own up to the more cultural and nature driven regions of Northern Thailand. The 10 hour overnight train ride will give me the chance to see some of the more stunning early morning scenery on my trip up to Chiang Mai, followed by another visit to an elephant sanctuary and hopefully trekking the Golden Triangle! Next up? I'm thinking of a fitness retreat in Bali! I am so inspired to stay fit and healthy, which sees me constantly at the gym, or outdoors climbing mountains, trekking forests or doing a beach workout. I think it is so important for us to stay fit and healthy, particularly if you enjoy an active holiday and want to make the most out of your experiences. More importantly though, the new recent craze which has hit Australia are the overseas fitness retreats! 


From Vanuatu to Fiji and Bali, a lot of personal trainers and health clubs offer packages to take clients overseas for a health inspired fitness retreat! The one I have my eye on involves morning yoga and pilates, cycling tours, mountain treks and spa treatments to relax those sore muscles. Plenty of time to kick back and relax or check out the sites, these retreats combine an international holiday with fitness (my dream come true personally!). My last international adventure for 2016 will hopefully be a week or two with some close girlfriends in Hawaii for our birthdays! An apartment overlooking the stunning white sands of Waikiki, beach time with a cocktail in hand, and plenty of adventuring to be had! I have never managed to get myself over the America, so a trip to Hawaii seems like the perfect introduction. The planning and saving for this one has just begun, so stay tuned for more! Of course there will be plenty of local travel and "home town touristing" to keep me occupied in the meantime, but my 2016 is shaping up to be pretty exciting!!
